ESSENTIAL OIL SAFETY DURING IVF & IUIA

A calm and simple guide for your treatment journey.

Why this matters

During IVF or IUI, your body goes through many changes. Essential oils can help with calm, comfort, and emotional steadiness, but they need to be used with extra care so they don’t interfere with treatment.

In all sessions, I choose oils that are gentle, clinically safe, and suitable for assisted conception.

You never have to know what’s safe — I take care of that for you.

How I keep your treatments safe

✔️ Very low, gentle dilutions

Your blends are always kept at a low strength suitable for fertility treatment.

✔️ No oils that affect hormones

I avoid any oil known to influence hormonal pathways.

✔️ No abdominal application during stimulation

This area can feel tender, so treatments focus on feet, legs, hands, or inhalation.

✔️ Professionally tailored blends only

I never use generic “fertility” blends sold online, as they often contain unsafe oils.

✔️ Everything is personalised

Your blend is adapted to your medication phase and how your body is feeling that session.

Oils I commonly use during IVF/IUI

All chosen for calm, comfort, and emotional balance:

• Lavender• Roman chamomile• Bergamot (sun-safe)• Mandarin or sweet orange• Neroli• Frankincense• Sandalwood• Cedarwood• Vetiver (trace amounts)

These support relaxation, nervous system regulation, and gentle grounding.

Oils I avoid during IVF/IUI

To keep your treatment safe, I never use:

• Clary sage• Sage• Fennel• Basil• Anise• Oregano• Thyme• Wintergreen• Cinnamon• “Hormone balancing” blends

These oils can act on hormones or uterine tissue, so they are not used during assisted conception.

Safety around your medications

Your blends are carefully chosen to work alongside:

• stimulation medications• trigger injections• progesterone• oestrogen treatments• monitoring cycles• IUI/IVF procedures

You don’t need to track this — I adjust everything based on where you are in your cycle and protocol.

What you might notice during treatment

You may feel:

• calmer• more grounded• more regulated• supported emotionally• able to rest more easily

This support is gentle and aims to help you navigate treatment with steadiness, not pressure.

If you ever feel unsure

Please ask me anything — there are no silly questions. Your safety and comfort matter far more than choosing the “right” oil or saying the “right” thing.

I’m here to guide you through this with clinical care and compassionate support, every step of the way.
