A Walk Through the Living Apothecary

If you have visited Hummingbird Holistics for a treatment, read one of the seasonal guides, or spent time wandering through Hedgerow Notes, you may have noticed a quiet thread running through everything.
It is something I have come to call the Living Apothecary.
The Living Apothecary is not a single book, course, or collection of remedies. It is simply a way of seeing wellbeing as something that grows slowly and naturally, much like a garden.
Over time, I began to realise that many parts of my work were connected in ways that reflected this idea. Herbal teas, essential oils, crystals, seasonal reflections, the plants growing in the garden, and the therapies offered in the clinic all seemed to belong to the same landscape.
When I stepped back and looked at it more closely, the image that came to mind was a tree.
The Hummingbird Knowledge Tree
At the roots of this tree are the foundations that nourish everything I share through Hummingbird Holistics: nature connection, seasonal rhythms, gentle care, and a belief that wellbeing grows through patience, safety, and support.
The trunk of the tree is the practice itself — the treatments, the conversations, and the work of supporting women through different stages of life.
From this trunk grow several branches.
One branch holds the Reproductive Life Pathway series, which supports women through fertility, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and the changes that come with menopause.
Another branch is the Living Apothecary itself, where we explore herbs, plant wisdom, scent, and simple rituals that reconnect us with the natural world.
Growing from this branch is the Seeds & Seasons collection — a library of small guides that explore things like herbal teas, crystals, seasonal living, and tending a home apothecary.
Alongside these sits Hedgerow Notes, the seasonal magazine where reflections from the garden, the clinic, and the apothecary find their way onto the page.
For therapists and practitioners, there is also a study shelf of deeper learning through the Hummingbird Materia.
The Hummingbird
Moving between all of these branches is the hummingbird itself.
In nature, hummingbirds move lightly between flowers, gathering nectar from many places. It felt like a fitting symbol for this work — a reminder that wisdom can be gathered from many sources and held gently together.
Within Hummingbird Holistics, the hummingbird represents curiosity, attentiveness, and the small moments of care that make a difference.
Season by Season
The Living Apothecary continues to grow slowly, just as a garden does.
New guides, seasonal reflections, and resources are gradually finding their place on the shelves. Over time, these pieces will come together within a dedicated membership space where they can be explored more fully.
But at its heart, the Living Apothecary is simply an invitation to slow down and notice the rhythms that already exist around us.
A cup of herbal tea.
The scent of a plant between the fingers.
A quiet moment in the garden.
Small things, perhaps — but often the most meaningful ones.
And like any good garden, it is something that unfolds one season at a time.
Over the coming months, many of these guides, seasonal reflections, and Living Apothecary resources will begin to gather together in one place.
I am quietly preparing a membership space where the Seeds & Seasons collection, Hedgerow Notes, and other companion resources can be explored more fully.
There is no rush like the garden itself, it will open when the time feels right.
If you feel drawn to this way of working with nature, herbs, and seasonal rhythms, you are warmly welcome to walk alongside as it unfolds.
